Our fees are in accordance with the guidelines set by the Psychologists' Association of Alberta Recommended Fee Schedule. The guideline fee for individual therapy (based upon a 50 minute session) is $190, though actual rates may vary by psychologist.
Your psychologist will be happy to confirm his/her fees and to answer any questions you may have during your initial phone consultation.
Extended healthcare plans typically cover the services of a Registered Psychologist (also referred to as a "chartered" or "licensed" psychologist). Refer to the terms of your healthcare plan for detail regarding coverage.
Payment can be made with Debit, Visa, MasterCard, or cash. We do not accept personal cheques.
Your psychologist will of course issue detailed receipts for all transactions. Clients can submit these receipts to their insurance providers for reimbursement. Direct billing to some insurance providers may be possible; please inquire with your psychologist.
Confidentiality & Protecting Your Personal Information
Information that you provide is confidential with exceptions, as outlined under Alberta law and College of Alberta Psychologists Standards of Practice. Your psychologist will discuss these exceptions with you during your first appointment and will answer your questions regarding circumstances when confidential information must be shared.
Any contact with others involved in your care (e.g., family physician, psychiatrist) will be discussed with you in advance and will only be undertaken with your written consent.
Our record keeping practices are in line with the College of Alberta Psychologists Standards of Practice regarding Maintenance and Retention of Records.
All documentation is kept in secured filing cabinets within our designated file room. Our file room itself remains locked 24 hours per day. The building itself has controlled access after hours and is monitored by security staff.
Any electronic data (e.g., assessment reports) are encrypted and password-protected. We do not use email as a primary method of communication as we cannot ensure privacy if communicating in this manner. Telephone contact is preferred.
Cancelled or Missed Appointments
Please provide 24 hours notice if you must cancel an appointment. Clients will be billed for missed appointments and for appointments that are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.
